Preparation Checklist

This page is designed to assist you to prepare comprehensively for your trip abroad. Whilst no-one but yourself can take responsibility for your preparedness, we can share with you knowledge we have gained from observations, information and feedback from past clients. It is very important that you communicate with your counsellor if you are unsure about any aspect of this check list. We consider this to be the minimum level of preparation that you should reasonably undertake.

The checklist is under development and will be posted and available for download shortly.

The checklist for students
1. Do you have a passport
2. Is your passport valid (You need to have a passport which has more than 6 months of remaining period)
3. Have you made a photocopy of your passport
4. Do you have an appropriate visa
5. Is your visa covered the period of your stay
6. Do you have a ticket or a copy of ticket (an exchange ticket at the airport - maybe this is only for Japanese)
7. Are the arrival and departure dates correct on your ticket
8. Have you purchased a travel insurance
9. Do you have a certificate and booklet of travel insurance
10. Do you know what your travel insurance cover and what does not
11. Have you told your family that your contact details in Australia and that how to contact with
you (how to make an international call)
12. Do you have enough money or traveler's cheque that covers first week or two of your stay
13. Do you have suitable clothes (suitable as in jumpers for winter, t-shirts for summer etc)
14. Do you know what you cannot bring to Australia. If not, please check Customs Regulations page or AQISwebsite
15. Do you have a transformer and plugs for your electrical appliances
16. Do you have a first aid kit and medicines if you have a particular condition
17. Do you have a bilingual dictionary and some stationary
18. Have you asked the school or AIS Education Centre to organise airport pick-up and do you know the details
19. Do you know the contact person(s) for airport pick-up in case you can't find or meet them
20. Do you have the homestay or other accommodation details
21. Do you have the school details
22. Do you understand the schedule for your first day at the school
23. Do you have AIS Education Centre contact detail
24. Do you have your counsellor's name and contact detail

Please do not write your name at the front of your luggage as some people might try to trick you...

The checklist for interns
