Apartments
Apartments are becoming very popular in Australia - especially
closer to the major cities where many people prefer the convenience
and safety of an apartment building. Standard apartments (also
called "units") are 2 to 4 levels high and do not have
a central management office. Apartment towers are also popular.
They are very tall buildings - up to 70 levels - and usually have
furnished options and on-site management offices.
Flats
Flats are a smaller and usually cheaper option. They are small
buildings up to 2 levels or converted houses that have been split
into separate living areas. Each area usually has its own kitchen,
bathroom and living area and a separate mail box, phone and electricity.
Flats are popular with students as they are usually cheaper than
apartments.
